I also remember this map as being one of the more popular KF1 maps, aside from Biotics Lab. Only around 10% of this map is dark and no one holds out in there. Most of the map, including the church, are in the non-dark parts. "Half the map" being completely dark is an exaggeration. No one really holds out in the dark indoors part. West London's optimal hold out spots are in the non-dark parts. I like maps like Burning Paris way more than most KF1 maps for reasons beyond "nostalgia" and "I like the look of old polygonal simplistic sourcemod/UTmod stuff". And of course, KF2's maps aren't amazing, but that's more of a fault of the garbage teleporting mechanic ruining them than anything. KF1 has a lot of "Good maps" with varied architecture, nice style, etc, especially later in its lifespan, but a majority of them are rough and work because the base KF1 gameplay is good. West London would be a good map if half of the map wasn't completely dark and impossible to maneuver through, so it's ignored 99% of the time.īiotics Lab is just a bunch of corridors. It's just a giant nothing hill with traders so far away from eachother, you spend twice as long on it as any other map, and that extra time is spent just moving from one trader to another. Mountainpass is outright bad except for it being one of the few maps in daylight. "Good map design" for a game like Killing Floor is super subjective. ![]()
